First Publication – Shadow’s of the Pipe: A Fictional Memoir Based on the Life of Saint Mark Ji Tianxiang

Dr. Saint Mark Ji Tianxiang, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a physician, and a person suffering from addiction to the very end; along with his family and countless other faithful Catholics; were martyred for their Faith during the Boxer Revolution in China and were met by Christ the King and all the Saints before them at the gates of Heaven in the summer of 1900. Because not much is known of the life of Saint Mark Ji Tianxiang, making it difficult to write a true biography of this martyred Saint who suffered from an opium addiction; this story of his life is authored by a physician who has been treating patients with addiction for 21 years, as a fictionalized memoir to share the essential details of Saint Mark Ji Tianxiang’s life, times, and martyrdom from a perspective, that while fictional, could easily be representative of his life, suffering, and ultimate redemption.
